A high rocky coast (cliffs) that descends to the sea and the mix of the Mediterranean and typical Illyrian and Central European vegetation are two particular elements that make this area unique in the European context .
Other particular touch is given by the karst nature of the rocks that present spectacular and curious erosive forms and bizarre textures on surfaces.
The Karst Mountains stand out for their beauty, while “sinkholes” offer unusual panoramas with moss and white Snowdrops in February.
But if in the northern Karst live the plants from the cold plains of central Europe, the scenery changes dramatically in the southern part. The Trieste coastline is characterized by the typical Mediterranean vegetation.
